We have a Win2K3 network running AD in native mode and I'm trying to do
use a Group Policy to redirect the user's home directories to a Samba

I do not run winbindd. Security is set to Domain and point to the DC's.
I'll be happy to post my config if it will help.
Thanks.
I understood it may be caused by broken DNS, the problem is that I access
the server via IP address not hostname, in the mean time, if setting 'use
spnego' to 'no' can fix this issue.

I have a problem with timestamps. Files that are being

If the two servers are in the same time zone, the time stamps are

Hi Everyone,
I thought I'd ask again and maybe someone knows the answer..
How come I can read/write to files on a share with any user, but the

Is this by design or am I not setting the right configuration? How is
the Normal attribute

Is it possible to transfer the relevant data from windows to the linux

the machine is also member of that domain? If so, which data must be

Thanks

I'm guessing that you need to add some UNIX schema to AD LDAP, either
Posix schema using AD4Unix or SFU, and then configure IDmap to use that.
The IDMAP should then write to UID and GID to AD LDAP instead of a
separate OpenLDAP solution.
I'm desperately looking for documentation, but I am finding
The nss_ldap has some performance problems and doesn't have any caching
features that windbind does. What I was aways wondering is does IDMAP
write UID/GID derived from SID to the extended schema in AD? Can
winbindd use this extended schema, instead of using nss_ldap?

Other than NIS is extremely insecure, and anyone concerned with security
would not use it. If you are using SFU, just use LDAP/Kerberos instead
of NIS. You'll get the same results, but with more security.
You don't have to use IDMAP to have GID/UID based on SID. You can
manually enter it
