using samba-3.0.23c-12.1.37 on sles 9. we are currently migrating all our users
to this samba server. every user has a private share and a group share for the
division. since we are using samba as primary
We want to migrate (merge) 2 NT4 Domains into a new Samba Domain.
All user have locale profiles (and shall retain them, no roaming profiles).
Has someone any hints for migration of the old profiles?
(I know it's more a MS question but all I can find is migration to AD)

If you have more NICs you can split the traffic using
different names for the NICs

Hello
I administrate a samba server with two network cards. This server is
visible and serve his shares succesfully on two differents subnets.
Ports 137,138 139 (both tcp upd) are filtered between those two
subnets by cisco switches.
The problem is that all my computers on the first subnet
I want users to be able to change their passwords but their machines are not
in a domain, they have small workgroups between them. They only use the
Samba server to access some shared folders.
If I am right, the only way to change it is Ctrl + alt + del and then change

Only thing that worked was the exact name and ip adress for the printer..
If the adresses vary, and tomorrow the printer can not be found, i will
try to use 192.168.1.* to allways find it, hope that will do the trick..

Directory domain. I previously thought the problem stemmed from an earlier bug
that has been fixed in 3.0.23 that required a user to have full Admin rights. I

It doesn't concerns every user, but most.
When a user creates a file it gets the wrong permissions. It gets
username:users and not as expected username:groupname.
