Found this thread while searching for the problem you have and have
found a cure that works for me.
Whenever joining the domain from a Windows XP machine it was only
creating the Posix side of the account and not the sambaSamAccount
that's required for a successful account creation.

Windows users can add new user permissions to files and folders and they are
inherited for all NEW files and subfolders created in the future.
But, changing permission on the security tab to a folder does not

I went ahead and applied your patch to the source I used yesterday which is
