Well, in my case, i have samba running
as a server, with auth. to 2 samba pbc/bdc servers
this server uses winbind to resolve usernames and groups.
i get the error:
[ date ] nsswitch/winbind_user.c:winbind_getpwnam(159)
user 'collen' does not exist.

normaly you can't rename a user in samba with the tools (pdbedit,
smbpasswd) you need to edit the passwd file, or sql - ldap database, by

it's something with the master browser, look at the log files, there might be some

Hmm, not shure, did you look at the eventlog from your win box ??
i had something alike, (before 304) and the win log showed that
the password change was corrupt (was a bug before 304)..
there might be some debug info there..
for the rest, i dunno..
it is easier to find what user had that file open. Also it would be

developers...
when adding a user, the 'account desc' field is NOT filled in..!
when adding some text manualy, and doing pdbedit -v user the field
showes up,
so when reading from the passwdbackend, the fields are resolved, when

i noticed the follow,
i deleted a user, with both smbpasswd -x and tryed one with pdbedit -x
and saw that only the username entry was removed from the
samba passwd-backend..
the delete user script entry in the smb.conf is ignored with
both commands ??

Well all i can say is that we implemented samba quite
succesfull at our school.. we have aprox 800/1000 users..
but we used Mysql as backend..
within the mysqltables, we added an extra printer field, for the
account printing..
now when one of our studends prints, it send it to a custem build
Dunno, try to comment out all mysql collumns..
(mysql:host -till- mysql:unknow_3)
and fire up your debug level.. to get more info..

no i need to install a application server (also a samba server)
and i'm wondering, what i could do/use best..
i need to spread the unix users groups to this app-server. (acl
support)

i updated to samba 304, and i had a print script
(print command = script)
but it's not executed annymore ??
i do use cups to get the papers roling...!
i did saw some info in the man, saying, that samba
compiled against libcups, is not using the print command

it can't read the mysql.h file...
so make sure it's at the right place, along with th other files...
also, what version of mysql do you use,
coz' in the early pre release versions of samba,
the mysql passwd backend, was only working with a 3.X.X
version on

i think the getpeer error comes from

hmmm.. got a small problem...
i installed samba 3 on 2nd network..
works fine.. but the domain name changed..
(used the workgroup = option in smb.conf)
rejointed the the wks.. works all fine.
but now when i do pdbedit -v usrname
it shows the old domain in it's listing.. ?
(the users can user

so it's not a samba bug..
