Hi All,
Just a quick question: Will 3.3.x replace 3.2.x as the production use
branch? We're still using 3.0.28 and up on our systems and just want to
know if evaluating 3.2 is the right step, or wait for 3.3.
Thanks,
Jim Shanks

It really didn't strike me at the time, but just tonight as I was in the
process of setting up a new server as a new domain controller on a new
domain, what are we supposed to use for a Samba primary domain

if not security=server?
Just use the default setting, which is

hello everybody,
I have come to a dead end.
I have successfully configured cups and samba to print from windows with
automated drivers download.
It works perfectly, but for one little problem, most of the printing here
in
my company are reports printed by the ERP software, which has been
the sample code.
All of the samba code is available via ftp at us3.samba.org/pub/samba/
Thank you ahead

Hi,
I have a problem with Samba / LDAP running on SLES-9. This has been
running well
for a while until this week - now Windows workstations don't show group
names
anymore (editing Access Rights, for example, shows a list of group SIDs
instead).
I checked whether some software was updated
Fred,
Here's a link to the documentation on how to set the printer devmode.

Fred,
Initialize the printer devmode as documented. Or just try
Christian,
It looks to me that the machine account will work fine in either case. In
your first example the machine account is created with no password, which
is the way I would expect. In your second example, it is created with no
LM password, but a LM2 password. Either way, it should work.
Updating to a Samba 3 will provide better support for XP clients.
That said, I used 2.2.7 for XP clients for about a year. All that was
required was setting to 0 (zero) the Windows XP registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Service\Netlogon\Parameters\requiresignorseal
Then
This has been working for me since 3.0.10:
add machine script = /usr/sbin/useradd -d /dev/null -g domaincomputers -s
/bin/false -M %u;passwd -l %u

Are you absolutely sure that the winbind daemon is running? Whenever I've

When I print from Windows, using Windows drivers (without Samba), it

I noticed a couple of things in you smb.conf that have given me problems
in the past. You have the OS level at 32 which should cause this machine
to win all elections as the master browser, but WINS support is not on,
which means after it wins the election, it won't provide any name

software should
actually be declared public domain? If that's so, doesn't allowing them
