Hello List
Sorry to bring it up again, but this error [1] posted by Stefan is affecting
my Lenny 5.0 installation as well.

I don't have selinux installed, so it is not responsible.
*) I see in nmbd.log and smbd.log both services

I have a probably the same problem. I use Fedora 10 and the command
service nmb status
gives
nmbd is dead but pid file exists (or something similar)
Looking at the date of the pid file I noticed that it was a leftover from the
last shutdown. So, probably something is going wrong

Hi guys,
I got a weird problem over here and couldn't find any solution in several days
searching.
If I switch my server on (Debian 5.0), the machine boots successfully, samba
logs tell me
[2009/03/05 09:13:30, 0] smbd/server.c:main(1213)
smbd version 3.2.5 started.
