Sorry for my misunderstanding I'm a novice in Linux and want to ask
something. Untill now I successfuly used RHL working as a PDC and everything
just working fine.
I'm trying to implement Red Hat Linux 7.3 system in Windows NT enviroment
with PDC and BDC's as a standalone server using samba. I
Hi!
I would like to help in your job. I'm a System Administrator, known C and
C++, and I'm current working on Samba PDC using OpenLDAP.
I'm from Mexico, so I know spanish, maybe I could help with traductions.
This is me.

Good morning!
I have in my net over 500 PC.
Currently (windows ME/98) I clone whole disks between workstations with
partimage (I setup special software which changes computer name
automatically based on revDNS name of computer - so clone process is whole
automatic).
Now I want to change
I wrote a note about the use the ldif files as provided in the docs,
because an structural object *must* be present with the new samba schema
and the strong schema checking in the new openldap (2.1.3).

How should we handle this within Samba? Should we create a new user with
a person objectClass and a sambaAccount (assuming an applicable
non-sambaAccount object doesn't exist, of course). This does simplify
some things (we can take cn out of the sambaAccount) but adds the
(possible) difficulty

Hello,
I have installed Samba 2.2.1a on Solaris 5.8 with NIS+ option. Initially I

The negprot response is interestingly different between Samba head and
Win2K although it may be harmless. The oids are in reverse order in Samba
from the OIDs in spnego negprot security blob that Win2K server sends and
one oid is missing. Presumably this ordering encourages the client to use
Here's an updated patch that implements a

it also cleans up a couple of doc issues
I'm not sure if you'll like the null_group trick i used
but it seemed better than allocating an fstring
and modifying the arguments being passed to changegroup.

I have written a new VFS module that translates symbolic links to MS DFS
links. You can get it at
http://www.cae.wisc.edu/~gerdts/samba/vfs-linktrans.c
What does it really do?
When a symbolic link to a directory is encountered, a mapping of
UNIX Directories to share names is consulted.
The account structural object class would seem to be a reasonable default.
Could the structural class to be used, be made configurable? That is, have a
ldap user structural class parameter in smb.conf. I think that this would
make the Samba usable in more situtations.

Here's a few tips that may help you:
- Have a look at the extensive documentation that comes with Samba (particularly the
HOWTOs
We run SAMBA on a Unix box with case sensitive file naming (i.e. standardUnix usage). Relevant entries in smb.confcase sensitive = yesmangled map = (*.html *.htm)Using NT4 clients no problems are experienced in accessing files andnavigating directories. Have a (small) client base using
