Hello friends,
I'm preparing the bibliography for my new book (I've been a very busy girl),
and need to include Kerr's Merry Melodies, but there is no date to be seen
anywhere in the books. Anyone know when these were published?
Thanks much!

Because there's more to it than songs and tunes, it would be worth having a
look at:
Francis Collinson. The Traditional and National Music of Scotland.
George Emmerson. Rantin Pipe and Tremblin String
George Emmerson. A Celestial Recreation: a social history of Scottish
dancing.

Nigel's post reminded me that no bibliography of Scots music could exclude
Charles Gore's Scottish Fiddle Index.

Dominique asks,
Which recordings and books (tutors, tunebooks...) would you consider as
essential for a newcomer to Scots music?
I suggest Andrew Hunter's 'La musique ecossaise - pour comprendre tout un
courant de la musique celtique' published by COOP Breizh in 1998
