Alternatively you could buy it and put some money back
into RedHat :-)

I know this has been reported before on hte Enigma list.

The following kernels are available for download from my local mirror:
kernel-2.4.16-0.4.src.rpm
kernel-2.4.16-0.5.src.rpm
I presume that the kernel-2.4.16-0.5.src.rpm would be the best one to try

Basically Iam having the problem below:
I have a server exporting NIS/NFS to my other 2 pc's, the server amongst others is
exporting /home to all my machines with the user created on the server).
So I can boot up any box and login to my account on the server..
This works fine if I boot up to
ypcat passwd and ypcat hosts returns everything from hte server correctly..
All my host names are taken from the server and they work ok, Iam pretty sure I have
nis first in the /etc/nsswitch.conf file,
I'll check that latter when I get home
Cheers
Mark
I'll take your advice and check, but the way i looked at it, was that it was the order
in what was checked, ie if i want nis to have
presadenence over local than I assumed than nis would go before files...
thanks

What I want to do Is compile some programs, using the source.tar.gz file (rather than
rpm),
bueing only used to building simple programs from source and always using rpm,
Iam not 100% sure about tracking and succesfully building files from source.
This is what Iam doing so far:
./configure
any referance to what I would need with this problem.
btw xterm works fine.
I'm running kernel-2.4.18, glibc-2.2.5.
To be honest I'm not sure what to actually alter, with regards to permissions
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I wish to create certain user accounts that will ask for a new passwd
every 4 weeks, than 1 week after that lock them out.
As the server they are on will be an email server, I would have to
create a script to email users that their passwd needs changing and will
expire in 1 week from
).
As I wish to have the above done automatically , without me setting a
new date every 4 weeks.
Could anyone possably give me some advise on this please?
Cheers

Something that has been bothering me for a while is the hostname in RedHat.
I know this may seem like a simple question, but in
/etc/sysconfig/network, then line: HOSTNAME=
what exactually does it mean by hostname?
Is this the FQDN or just the 'host' name?
I take it to mean just the hostname,
