Hello!
Version Zero was hand coded on a PDP-7. Included the necessary tools
to make the tools, that is the components we use now on the ones on
the PDP-11 to write programs.
As I understand it, but I believe there are people on the list who
know more then I do,and can chime in; the gang at Bell

I do not think that is 100% correct. B and early UNIX sort of come about
at the same time. B (and
1. Create an RB09 variant at half size and allow it to be configured in
the PDP7. No need for dynamic size support; Unix v0 supports one size
(8000 sectors), and PDP9 software supports one size (16000 sectors).
2. Create a card reader for the PDP7. With minor mods, the same device

Bill,
There is plenty of documentation on the pdp11 45/70. Start with the
handbooks:

As for programming in assembly, most of the documentation is for DEC
OS's. However, the manuals for Unix v6 and v7 had assembly sections.
They are

Thanks. :) That’s definitely interesting history.
I have KLH10 running on my Linux virtual machine. Tops-20 seems much more
newbie-friendly than
SimH stores 18b data, whether disk or DECtape, right justified in a 32b
container.
As for ASCII data... "it depends." DEC's own software for the PDP-7 used
a mishmash of character sets, including FioDEC, Baudot, and the early
form of ASCII associated with the KSR-33. The official assembler

Hi,
I have a working KA10 and most of the pieces to make a KI10. If
anyone is interested in helping let me know. I need help with the
dectape controller. If someone has the protocols for the console
between the KL10 and the FE, I could add in a KL10A to my mix. From
KI10 to KL10A is not
my employer's views, if any, on the matters discussed.

I've been hoping for a KL simulation in SIMH for a while. KLH10 lacks
support for things like serial over Telnet which means that multiuser
is essentially impossible on KLH10 without all kinds of networking
mojo. Sadly, I don't have the skill to actually write such a beast,
I'm of no use except as

Hi All,
I’ve begun trying out Tops-20 on the KLH10 emulator, and also have an interest
in ITS for the sheer novelty of the operating environment.
I don’t know a lot about PDP10 CPU families, but was wondering how the two
emulators compare.
I gather DEC didn’t release newer versions of Tops-20
