Hi i am also new to slide !
I think I have the same problem, I try admin/admin but I get a 403 error...
Did you manage to make it work ?

hello friends,
i am new to slide. i downloaded jakarta-slide-2.1-tomcat-5.0.28 from
the site.
when i run the application it asks for the user name and password. i gave
root/root, admin/admin, ... but it doesn't authenticated..
