More  complex than having a rule that forwards to a single domain-wide
spam  account? Well, sure!

More complex than having rules that forward to per-user secondary spam
accounts? I don't think so.

I do understand that you don't want to go back and start over this way
in your environment.

If  you're  currently  forwarding  everything  off-box  to an Exchange
mailbox  server,  have  you looked at exchange2aliases to automate the
population of your alias list? With spam being redirected via a global
rule  to  a  dedicated  spam account, and non-spam being redirected to
Exchange, why have user accounts at all?
