Paranoid? Perhaps. But our home field is adjacent to a soccer field
where a few guys habitually fire up transmitters without bothering to
check out a frequency. You know, the guys who fly those foamy things
around like helicopters. The scanner at least alerts me to their
presence so I can
I should add that, though I get the urge once in a while (in
particularly egregious cases), who among us would actually fire up on
the offender's channel? I could never get myself to cross that line.
Still, I'm sure we've all had the fantasy at one time or another!

At the JR Aerotow I compared mine to two of the big expensive units. I
plugged my FRS earbud into the antenna jack. Results were impressive.
Every freq the expensive units showed as active, my little Hobbico unit
showed as well.
My (two) antenna should be here soon. Maybe there is a
My Frequency Checker has a range of at least 1000 feet with a 21 inch
antenna. It was tested at our sailplane contest last month. Range could
have been more but that was as far as I could go on the mowed tow path. I

Rick,
I made an Escape rod. (Would buy one next time). It has two holes. I had
the polished rods 1 longer than the finished carbon rod and waxed them
really well. I vacuum formed a mold from a wood plug the width and height
of the wing rod I wanted so I wouldn't have too much sanding. It

Just like your car radio. The antenna is
Nice Note,
Why don't you copy Hobbbico on this post as well ?
If you are going to Cudo or rip a company, you might as well copy them directly,
Assuming that they monitor Rcse, is well Ass u meyou get the point.
I think that you have good data, and that they should know...
Thats my point.
Personally I would love to have one in my club. But on 35mhz
We have a super Aerospectra and there is nothing I have seen that does a
better job.
But a Hobbico would be easy for all pilots to check when the arrive at the
field.
I would put at our peg-board...
The best of it would be that
It looks like the Hobbico antenna utilizes a stereo plug (2 conductors +
grd).
While Mike's uses a mono plug (1 conductor + grd).
Seems to me fairly odd that Hobbico chose the stereo plug for this
application. I'd be interested to know why.

Alright, since many say they want a channel scanner;
how about the Model Scan from LL Microelectronic

It costs $270 right now with the exchange rate.

There are two subjects when it comes to this stuff. one is about the

Hey Ron
I looked for Brian Buaas on Sunday and couldn't find him. I was told he
was there on Saturday and was not there on Sunday. How does he end up
with 2 days worth of scores? Did someone else turn in scores on his Card?

Next is task 7 Sunday morning, How many points do you get if you get
through to 1:45 and the winner of your heat gets to 2:00?
Task for round seven was the ladder task. You try to fly flights of 15s 30s
45s 60s 75s 90s
I am looking for 2 individuals to share in the
expenses of a flight to Muncie for the Nats. I'll be
taking my Lancair. Definitely more fun, but not as
cost effective as flying commercially.
Interested? Ping me offline.
Thx,

Just a note to backs Steve's, had a day of stupid air. You find nothing out
about your ship, but it was probably the best air I have seen on a field in
years. The Gateway Open looks great, light winds, low humidity, and plenty of
sun. Too bad guys are amking the trip to Hotlanta, nine
