I usually put my sailplanes away for the winter, but
this winter I would like continue doing some flying. I
fly on a large athletic field in Philadelphia and am
looking for suggestions for good windy weather (25
mph) sailplanes with wingspans of 60 or less that
would be suitable for launching with
What is more amazing to me, is that the good throwers have
a varied fitness, body build, body weight, etc. Some of the
best throwers have what I term couch potato builds, although
this is definitely not a discriminator.
Yeah, it's called rotational mass! With the advent of dlg planes you
A co-worker has been trying to get in touch with her sister all day -
her sister worked in the WTC.
Another co-worker got a call from his girlfriend who worked across the
street from the WTC. She told him of watching people jump out of windows
to certain death.
I'm just numb. Everything was so

Just out of curiosity, are there people out there who fly just for the fun
of it, don't feel compelled to engage in the hardware race, don't feel that
competition is the only game in town when it comes to soaring?
I fly just for the fun of it. Until yesterday I competed exclusively in

This discus launching is FUN!
As you can see from the photos, I throw left-handed. I discovered that I
do not need a preset when I launch because I have my right thumb
Thanks for all the responses to my questions about presets. Here are 2
more questions:
I throw left handed so I would need a transmitter that has the preset
switch on the right hand side of the radio. Does Futaba make a
transmitter that has a preset on the right hand side?
Does anyone know if
I just purchased a bunch of free flight hand launch glider kits from
Stan Buddenbohm - a well known ffhlg designer and pilot. With my kits he
enclosed a photo of a hand launched glider he called a "folder". The
wings on this thing are tucked in during launch and upon transition the

Since watching "Lift Ticket" I have also been thinking a lot about how
this DS'ing thing works. I too can "see" how it works but can't quite
explain it. I have been thinking that a sailplane entering back into the
flow of air above the crest of the hill is sort of like a sailboat
tacking into the

yet seen. My family and I have been splitting our sides with laughter!
And just so this is a sailplane related post, try out the url to my
DAW 1-26 site when you go to the rinkworks page!
I am contemplating bidding on item shown in url below. I've dreamed of
attending the IHLGF for a couple years now. Since I live on the east
coast however I haven't been able find the time to get away. This item
may be just the ticket I need.
Could anyone shed some light on whether this thing
