How would mounting a servo to a piece of aluminum, say .020 thick, with
servo tape and then screwing the aluminum to the aircraft work? I think it
would be fairly light and should hold well. You could trim the current
mounting tabs off of the servo to save some weight as well. Harley's post
Hi Phil,
As always, thanks for the great information. Sorry for the reference to
the Pretty Mantis henceforth called the Aegea Mantis. I've been out of
TD flying for a while and apologize for the faux pas. IMHO, they are both
pretty cool looking planes. I've seen the Mantis fly and have
Hi All,
I have a Pretty Mantis fuse now and noticed that it only comes with one
sheet of instructions that are pretty general. Does anyone have any
suggestions on how to install the tailboom? What do you use as a reference
to make sure the incidence is correct? Should I just use epoxy to
Thanks Anker!
That's what I had in mind for aligning the tailboom but wasn't sure it that
would do it or not. I know if would be a bear to fix if I had it wrong. :)
Can't wait to fly my Mantis this spring! Probably end up buying a second
one with an Aegea wing from Phil and another Pretty
Hi All,
While in SoCal in August I found a website that listed a whole bunch of
slope sites along the SoCal coast. Unfortunately I can't find the website
anymore and the one on the Inland Slope Rebel site doesn't list some of the
slopes that we flew at: Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes, and
Hi All,
I have a project that will use a lot of mylar and I'd like to find it as
inexpensive as possible. Needs to be .014 thick if possible.
As always, thanks for your help.

Thanks Guys. Looks like ACP or CST might still be the best place to get
the mylar.

Hi All,
We've just released our latest product for protecting sailplanes during
transportation. The Tube Socks are designed to replace the all too
common bubble wrap used when storing a plane in Sport Tubes. Our first
batch went out to customers last week and I wanted to get feedback before
and can
be found by the scissors and rulers. The mat is 4 x 5 and is
ruled. Couldn't pass it up! Got one for the office and one for work. Neat!

Brian,
The Pelican Soaring Society used to fly every Tue/Thur morning up in New
Port Richey. Walt Good was a member of that club and there were several
other well versed modelers there. They fly (flew?) on the West Pasco Model
Pilot's Association field (see http://www.wpmpa.org/).
Hope this
Hi All,
For those of you that bag your own wings or want to paint a design on your
plane, I now have the ability to machine cut paint masks for that use. The
masks for bagging wings are cut with the lettering or graphic reversed so
they will display properly when the wings are removed from the
Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to pass on my appreciation to Dave Thacker at Radical

extremely helpful and helped me get exactly what I needed at a great
price. Thanks Dave!

Standard GPS error (drift) can be as high as 16 meters due to the geometry
of the constellation and path link errors in the atmosphere. The new WAAS

Hi All,
I'm trying to order a Cavasos' BD-5 but can't get any info. Tried calling
the number but it's not working. Anyone know if they're still making
planes? Know where I can get the BD-5?
Thanks,

Hi Everyone,
I just came across the information I have on PZL-104 plans and wanted to
post the information here. There are a couple of places that offer giant
scale plans and one or two that have .90 sized or free flight plans.

Hi All,
Just a quick not to say that I've uploaded some pictures of our Plane Packs
onto our website. The pictures are of the older version and newer pictures
will be added in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks for the bandwidth.

Weller makes an excellent butane fueled soldering iron/torch that comes in
a nice case. They're available at Sears. They are also really nice for
disposing of evidence if the plane goes in really hard. ;)

type of area will you be flying in?
Pretty much wide open spaces. The smallest space I would fly in would
probably be the size of a soccer field.
Again, thanks for all of your comments. Much appreciated.

Hi All,
My apologies in advance if I'm posting this to the wrong list.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a low-to-mid priced hotliner? I'm
looking for something that's easy to transport so I can take a plane with
me when I go on the road testing UAVs and there's no slope or thermal

Hi Nathan,
I currently have a D70 and love it! You can't ask for a better quality,
more versatile camera. I studied photography for a while and am at the
skilled/semi-professional level. One of the features that I really like is
that I can take up to 3 pictures a second. Just hold the

Brent,
It depends on the radio that you're using but you usually do have to trim
both radios. One exception that I know of is the Stylus which uses all
settings from the master radio. You'll also have to check into the
programming for the brand radio that you're using. Easiest way is to plug
at Barnes Noble book stores. I'll find out and post the
information if anyone is interested.

Jim
