I think I have the plans laying around somewhere if that helps. My high school part time job was building Hugh Stock's (Soarcraft president) show planes in the mid-70's, so I built a couple Magnum 12's. Ben Clerx ** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

Interesting take on this Magnum plane, one says it flies well the other says it doesn't. Can you guys tell us why it does fly well or why it doesn't? Thanks, J On Nov 10, 2007 11:17 PM, Fred Weaver [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: It was hardly an assenine question... But it was a question for

The Magnum 12 was a big, old, lumbering 12-footer. The Grand Esprit was a prettier plane. Never built one for myself because I liked my 12 foot Soarcraft 604 better. Of the big winged planes, the Legionair would have been a better choice (just guessing since I never flew one). A year or so

Yes, it was a good kit and went together ok. But as a flyer, it wasn't really anything to brag or Boast about I think that was Dan's comments too. :-) Ray Hayes Sky Bench.com Home of Wood Crafters -- Ray Hayes Ray Hayes Skybench.com

Well, I could thermal mine out from a wingspan high, and won my first contests with it. I did a few things, like strengthening the inner wings and lightening the outers by tapering spar stock, etc. In spite of it's long span, mine would turn well, and 8 oz. of lead on the CG would take care of

I had 2 of them back in the '70s. They did indeed fly well and were a nice build, something that's lost on most modellers these days. Why would you ask such an assenine question? -- schrederman schrederman's Profile:

If I remember correctly, the first and last time I saw a Magnum fly ( side by side cockpit, right ) was by Dan Pruss doing FAI Distance laps at LOFT field. Seems everyone was kidding Dan about his ugly scale sailplane, but he did complete the task. Ray Hayes Sky Bench.com Home of Wood Crafters
