Poway definitely has some good DS depending on conditions. You may want to 
explore Torrey Pines a little. South of the hanglider port/shack there is a 
ridge the seems like it would work well in a decent breeze. We flew it in 
light winds (6mph) and could do continues circles. I'll bet it's awesome when 
it blows in the spring time. Anyone tried this spot when it's blowing good?
