Hello,
Is it possible to power off a net5501 box by software (eg: shutdown -h
now), and maybe also power it back on using wake-on-lan?
Is it possible to access the BIOS after the OS is running? I'm
thinking of Sun machines, in which you can hit stop-a on the keyboard
to interrupt the OS and go
for the OS
(read-only to maximize durability), and then the SD card for writing
(perhaps together with unionfs).
Of course, with a Soekris one could easily use the internal USB header instead.

filesystem, while they will be really writing to /dev/shm
(which is ram based). This requires patching the kernel.

Not sure if this will help, but I have a somewhat similar arrangement on a
Soekris box running FreeBSD 6.3 booting off a CF device
? Where can I
find an appropriate heatsink?
By the way, I'm using a sensors.conf file from the net801, I don't
have a customized one, does anybody have a customized one for the
net5501?
Thanks.

But anyway, I would like to encourage Jan and others to experiment all
posibilities, we need more people to figure out what is going on.

My net5501 currently runs from an IDE harddisk, however I would like to
migrate to a 4G CF card and use nanobsd.
The problem is that if I put the CF card in the slot the net5501 won't
boot from the harddisk, which I need it to in order to copy the image
onto the CF card.
I tried playing

Would it be possible to enable USB boot in the net5501 via firmware upgrade?
That would be excellent.
