It is common practice to dispatch the Application object before using it, but I
noticed there are at least two different ways of doing it:
1.)
from win32com.client import dynamic as d
App = d.Dispatch ('XSI.Application')
2.)
from win32com.client import Dispatch
App =
the real lesson to be learned here is that ultimately scenes are not to be
trusted, so try and rely on them as little as possible .
not an easy task, but there are some good habits that can go a long way in
making this work for you.

3. With the render tree window opened, open scene now

names before the parameter you want. But for the parameter, you need to use
the Get Action Source At Frame.
I think there is an example of such setup in the stadium wave sample scene.
