LOL, exactly what I was thinking :-)
Swallows? We Softies are the black knights, don't you see? Arms and feet
chopped off by Autodesk and only considering it a flesh wound.
But we can still spit, can't we?

They just want to cash in I guess.

Let me make a deliberately bold statement here:
I indeed do hope Autodesk acquires the Foundry
(although realistically I do not really see it happen, but that's
another story):
the more mass Autodesk acquires, the bigger the chance of it finally
collapsing in on itself,

Not sure if I could commit to agreeing with that

Hello,
Sorry in advance for the M... noise here...
We're having this weird and really annoying issue with Maya 2015 and image
sequences and was wondering if anyone seen this :
In Maya 2015 Ext1 SP5 image sequences located on a server share are very slow
to update when scrubbing / playing :
Its starting to feel that the safest thing to use, with the most predictable
future is XSI.

Like I said:
The group that owns the Foundry is a private equity firm, so a change of
ownership every few years is a given. However its bought and sold as any
investment. Its how a lot of private firms increase their money base.
On the plus side if it was ever sold to Autodesk it would then be accessible
Wouldn't it make sense for Disney to buy it ? now that they own the
planet...

well
Best thing would be if the community i.e. some big and small studios
would unite to a cooperative, throw in their money and would buy the
whole thing. Very unlikely though that this happens.

Hey guys
I decided to get into houdini as I might be dead by the time bifrost is
mature.
Right of the bat I got a real show stopper.
I lovingly call it mickymousemode
My cursor turns into the mickymose hand, normal associated with panning
a window, and stays like that.
No keyboard short cuts
Yes ,
that is happend with me when starting with houdini , just right mouse
click on the network view and everything will be fine .
It's a test.
If you a real Houdini guy, you should be able to escape this one ;)

it behaves like a modal window is open somewhere off screen.

Ya I've had some oddities on Windows when it comes to dual monitors i.e.
the mplay window keeps popping over to the wrong screen and I've had the
cursor one as well. I think the worst is the crashing I've been having
with GL volumes but this is on v12.

Then I started learning Maya and I believe I gave it a fair chance.
Almost 6 months now.
Houdini doesn't seem so strange now :)
Maya is shitty in my opinion. It is going to be a big part of my future
