Right - good thought and that's better than nothing. But now my usual
workflow is restored after setting that environment variable.

Yes, that's what I was doing as a workaround, thanks.

The environment variable worked. Thanks so much for telling me about that!

You need to set a variable in the bat file.
They disabled this to optimize the viewport responsiveness.
A UI workaround: If you hold don’t CTRL while clicking, or SHIFT, or ALT, I
think this alternates the selections under mouse. I don’t recall.
Here is the variable:

Make the outer object unselectable?
Is that enough for what you want?

Hello!
Autodesk wouldn't issue me a license for Softimage 2014 on my new
computer so I'm forced to use Softimage 2015 on it now.
Unfortunately now I don't seem to be able to select objects inside of
polygon models. It always selects the outermost object which is the

Normally I'd say try deleting history on the object, or to try
freezing/resetting the transforms. But if it is occurring to a new poly grid in

To be fair, that was the case in Softimage too occasionally.
E.g. changing a color swatch resulted in 3 "Set Value" commands issued,
one for each color component, which had to be undone separately.

Ctrl+Z doesn't work as you might expect in Maya.
It seems that 1 click or 1 option change may produce series of commands and
Ctrl+Z reverts only the last one, so in consequence you may have to do it
several times to go back where you need.

In Softimage I animate a character 's Global Motion Controller from A to B.
Then I must animate its parts, like the face expressions for example.
So I select the character 's Global Motion Controller in branch and open
Yup, you need to create a new cam and parent to controller.
