Great!
Thanks a lot for your continued support for Softimage. And I'm especially
glad about the MODO plugin. That's a good sign for the future! :)

P.S.: Are there plans for some sort of view / camera dependent meshing?

Joint sponsorship from Maxon, Foundry, and Side Effects?
That would be totally awesome!

Maybe we could also ask Vanilla Ice and Ron Jeremy? ;)
And for the german speaking guys: Call the event RueberTage. Would make
it clear that a transition is in progress :D

What I mean is, that it's equally important to have tools to cleanup and

Yes, we have. And we're digging it more and more each day. My hint would

We'll jump on the Modo train (at least partly as long as Softimage still

Modo has it... sort of. It doesn't support changing topology and imports
the Alembic as blendshapes. This means the Alembic file isn't referenced
but imported once.
But now that Modo is in the good hands of TheFoundry, I guess / hope this
will change soon.

as part of the Autodesk Unfold event in Montreal, Softimage was a part
of the show.

the only thing that annoys me every time I model something in Modo is that
with the Tweak tool, or Element move tool as it's called in Modo, you have
to pick a vertex with pixel accuracy. It doesn't snap to the nearest

Hey Martin,
Though it's little help, I recall running across a warning in the SI docs
that unloading custom renderers in-session could introduce
There are _a lot_ more buttons in Vray than in Arnold! ;)
The combination of GI algorithms ( primary / secondary) alone is
intimidating.
The funny thing in Arnold is that the result most of the time converges to
the same image, only the rendertime varies if you e.g. shoot rays that you

in Modo is not node based. I works
more like Photoshop layers, just like in Lightwave, but a bit more
advanced. There are some advantages over the Render Tree in Softimage, but
even in a medium complex scene it becomes extemely flaky and very
confusing.
