You should be able to use mailman's WebUI to change the preferences for your mailing list subscription to be sent the email from the mailing list no matter what the other headers say. > which then puts messages out of context. On our side of the world is it very common and quite natural so you might want to reevaluate the feelings. ;-) There is nothing personal there, it's a way of being efficient. > none of the fedora lists > operate that way, people just reply to list. I'm coming from environment where it is quite normal that there are posts to mailing lists from people who are not subscribed to said mailing list. Therefore, group reply is used because you cannot be quite sure if the person is subscribed to said mailing list or not. And it is better to risk the email being delivered twice (and possibly filtered and de-duplicated on client side) than not to have the email delivered at all. You are then Cc:'ed on replies, and it is seen as completely normal. The To: + Cc: mailing-list is used as a To: email, with the added benefit of the email and the whole thread being archived, plus the other mailing-list participants have the chance to chime in even if they were not the primary intended recipients. This is seen as preferred to pure private communication.
