Hi all,
Can anyone advice me whether it is possible to configure
cachemgr to talk to
my squid cache using https?
No.

Hi,
After getting NTLM auth working fine I am now trying to get it working

Jamie,
Insert the parent directive:
cache_peer 127.0.0.1 parent 8080 7 proxy-only no-query
no-netdb-exchange login=*:nopassword default
Then, tell squid to forward ALL REQUESTS TO IT:
acl DOMAIN1 dstdomain .domain.to.direct.request
always_direct
Background: setting up a reverse proxy with ldap authentication, with said
authentication being passed down to the origin server.
When using
cache_peer 10.1.1.1 parent 80 0 originserver no-query no-digest proxy-only
login=*:password
cache_peer 10.1.1.45 parent 80 0 originserver no-query
Thanks Alex, this worked really well.
One thing to point out for other people who might want to do this is a lot of ports
conflict, I had to disable a lot for example:
Snmp_port 0
You can easily figure out most probs by tailing the cache.log and (in my case)
cache-passed.log.

How can I reconfigure squid and preserve the same old cache directory
structure?
I want to reconfigure squid and the whole system without loosing the cache.

If you don't change the cache_dir parameter(s), in squid.conf;
then you will be fine.

I want to recompile squid from scratch and reconfigure system several
performance options (file descriptors, Mbuf clusters limit, etc.) and
propably reformat the entire system.
How can I preserve my cache hierarchy tree?

That's somewhat more explanation already : it is welcomed.
thanks for the info.. but I am using Mozilla 1.2.1. Does it have the same problem as
IE?
If it does how does one fix it? I need to have squid cache DNS lookups as a transparent
proxy.
any information as to how to do that is appreciated. What options should one modify in
the
squid.conf?

Deny_info matchs with the last acl in the http_access line
here:
http_access deny porn all
it matches with all
you must use:
http_access deny all porn
and it will match with porn

well its simple. first of all just set your options vice versa
i mean kern.maxfiles and kern.maxfilespreproc or the other that you need to
recompile your kernal, after recompiling.
download your proxy and run it as you are doing first time
if you don't want to lose data then don't delete your
I currently run multiple squid instances (on 1 machine) as a reverse proxies
for multiple websites I'm hosting. The backend server is the same server for
my sites but the port number is different. My squid.conf files are setup as
follows:
squid.conf for www.abc.com
http_port 1.1.1.1:80

What is the procedure or format parameter in squid.conf for redirecting http

specifically http:80
