The PRC International Department ======================================================= PRC National Board, 11th July 2001 Resolution on G8 summit The Prc national board considers the mobilisation organised against the G8 summit extremely relevant. In continuity and as an extension of other struggle actions against the capitalist globalisation from Seattle to Porto Alegre and Nice, a critical consciousness is rising and new forms of the struggling movement are radicating, more and more taking hold of the political scene and dialoguing with vast masses. Something is cracking within what has been called "pensée unique". The Prc and the Young Communists - through a precious action - have joined this movement right from the beginning at a national and international scale, as they consider it a fundamental element for the re-construction of an antagonist perspective, proper to a force operating on the ground of a Communist Refoundation. Since its birth, the Genoa Social Forum, of which the Prc is a part, has contributed to important results, such as: The recognition within the whole movement of the global nature of confrontation (beyond lobbyisms) and shared views about the illegitimacy of structures such as the G8; A vast unity among hundreds of associations and an extremely large range of social and cultural movements, against any attempt of division between "good guys and bad guys"; The significant movement's widening and its connection with labour; The prospect of the movement's continuity also, and above all, after the Genoa mobilisation. This movement is the carrier of rich and alternative cultures, in which non-violence is an essential element of civilisation. This movement has all the right to demonstrate and this has to be fully recognised and granted by the Italian government and authorities. The Prc has been saying for a long time that the Genoa mobilisation with its claims represent a dialogue ground absolutely necessary for those committed to finding new perspectives for the Italian lefts. The Prc will join the mobilisation and urges all its structures and members to attend the whole week's action programme in so many as possible. In particular, we'll join the migrants' demonstration on July 19th and attend the meeting promoted by our delegation at the GUE/NGL group at the European Parliament. On July 20th , in respect of all forms of non-violent civil disobedience as decided by the GSF, the Prc will participate in the several actions including the encircling of the summit. On July 21st we'll participate, in dozens of thousands, at the big international demonstration. Approved with 6 votes against. ======================================================= Towards Genoa (2) Dear comrades, on July 11th a meeting of the PRC national board on the mobilisation against the G8 summit in Genoa took place. The meeting approved the resolution (6 votes against) here attached. Please also find here a new updating on the organisation of the Genoa action week as decided by the GSF in their recent meeting. First of all accommodation for demonstrators has been fixed at the sports fields Sciorba, Caderissi, Carlini, the gym at the school in Via Cagliari, the Sevi area at Quarto dei Mille; Bisagno at Genova Est; Via dei Ciclamini. How to get to Genoa: as we told you, the railway station Genova Brignole will be open as well as the highway exits on the eastern side (levante), busses have to go out at Genova Nervi. The GSF headquarters and press office will be in Via Cesare Battisti. The so-called "Cittadella" (Public Forum area) is close to Marassi football stadium and will be equipped with three big tents hosting the Public Forum. As to the actions: for the migrants' demonstration on July 19th, the meeting point is at 5pm at Piazza Garzano. The march will start with a cart with singer Manu Chao and end at Piazza Martinez close to Gilberto Govi Gardens (Cittadella area), where, in one of the big tents the GUE/NGL round table will begin at 9.30pm. On July 20th several forums will take place, while at 2pm the "encircling" of the summit and of the red zone will start, according to what we told you in our first updating. The start will be given by a war alarm, at which all demonstrators will lay on the ground to simulate the catastrophes brought about by globalisation. As to the 21st July demonstration: the meeting point will be at noon in Via Caprera; the march will start with Danone workers, followed by the Women of the South of the World and then by the GSF banner with the slogan: "You G8, We 6 Billions" (Voi G8, noi 6 miliardi) which will gather different personalities. Then will come the foreign delegations, followed, to end the march, by the Italian ones. The march will end at Piazza Galileo Ferraris, and it will be followed by speeches of Vittorio Agnoletto, GSF spokesperson and one representative for each continent, and messages of many others will be read. Please note that during the 21st July demonstration all GSF forces have pledged not to invade the red zone in any way, so as to grant a mass participation on this action day. For the PRC International Department Maria Cristina Perugia =========================================================== VERSO GENOVA 2 Cari compagni e care compagne, sulle mobilitazioni di Genova contro il vertice dei G8, si è svolta ieri, 11 luglio, una riunione della Direzione nazionale del PRC, conclusasi con un ordine del giorno, approvato con 6 voti contrari, che vi invio in attach. Passiamo subito, quindi, alle note organizzative decise nell' ultima riunione del Genoa Social Forum (GSF). Innanzitutto l'ospitalità per i manifestanti: saranno attrezzati per dormire i campi sportivi di Sciorba, Caderissi, Carlini; la palestra della scuola di Via Cagliari; l'area Sevi a quarto dei Mille; Bisogno a Genova Est; Via dei Ciclamini. Per l'accesso a Genova: abbiamo già detto che saranno aperte la stazione ferroviaria di Brignole e le uscite autostradali del levante, con la specifica che i pullmans dovranno uscire a "Genova Nervi". La segreteria organizzative e l'ufficio stampa del GSF saranno a Via Cesare Battisti. La cosiddetta Cittadella, si trova nei pressi dello Stadio Marassi e sarà attrezzata con 3 tendoni, che ospiteranno le iniziative del Pubblic Forum. Passando alle iniziative vere e proprie: il corteo dei migranti il 19 luglio, il cui concentramento è previsto alle 17.00 a Piazza Garzano, sarà aperto da un carro con il cantante Manu Chao e si concluderà a Piazza Martinez, nei pressi dei giardini Gilberto Govi (zona della Cittadella), dove alle 21.30 avrà inizio la "tavola rotonda" del GUE-NGL, in uno dei tre tendoni. Il 20 mattina si svolgeranno diversi Forum, mentre alle 14.00 avrà inizio "l'accerchiamento" del vertice e della zona rossa, secondo le diverse modalità già viste nella precedente nota. Il via sarà dato da una sirena di guerra, al suono della quale tutti i manifestanti si sdraieranno per terra a simulare gli effetti distruttivi indotti dalla globalizzazione. Infine il 21: concentramento alle 12.00 in Via Caprera; il corteo sarà aperto dagli operai della DANONE, seguiti dalle Donne del Sud del Mondo e poi dallo striscione del GSF che avrà come slogan: "Voi G8, noi 6 miliardi", e sotto al quale sfileranno diverse personalità, ancora dietro le delegazioni straniere per finire con gli Italiani. Il corteo terminerà a Piazza Galileo Ferrarsi, dove prenderanno la parola dal palco Vittorio Agnoletto, portavoce del GSF e un rappresentante per ogni continente di tanti altri saranno letti messaggi. E' utile ricordare che durante la manifestazione del 21 tutte le forze del GSF si sono impegnate a non invadere in alcun modo la zona rossa, proprio per garantire il carattere "di massa" di questa giornata. In continuità ed in estensione di altri momenti di lotta contro la globalizzazione capitalistica da Seattle a Porto Alegre a Nizza, cresce una coscienza critica e si radicano nuove forme di movimento che riescono sempre più ad occupare la scena politica e ad interloquire con la coscienza di vaste masse. Da questo punto di vista lo sciopero dei metalmeccanici della FIOM per il contratto ha visto protagonista una nuova generazione di lavoratrici e lavoratori con una forte critica all'attuale modello sociale. Si può dire che qualcosa si sta spezzando dentro quello che è stato chiamato pensiero unico. A questo movimento il Prc e i Giovani comunisti, con un lavoro prezioso, hanno partecipato sin dall'inizio su scala italiana ma anche europea e mondiale, considerandolo elemento fondamentale della ricostruzione di una prospettiva antagonista, propria di una forza che si muove sul terreno della Rifondazione comunista. Il Genoa Social Forum, del quale il Prc fa parte, fin dalla sua nascita, ha contribuito al raggiungimento di risultati importanti. L'assunzione da parte di tutto il movimento del terreno della contestazione complessiva e del giudizio di illegittimità di strutture quali il G8. L'unità larga di centinaia di associazioni e di uno spettro ampissimo di forze sociali e culturali, contro i tentativi di divisione tra "buoni e cattivi". L'allargamento significativo e l'intreccio con il mondo del lavoro. L'ipotesi di continuità del movimento stesso, anche e soprattutto dopo la scadenza di Genova. Questo movimento è portatore di culture ricche e alternative di cui è parte integrante l'opzione non violenta che segnala proprio un portato di civiltà. Questo movimento ha tutti i diritti di manifestare e ciò deve essere riconosciuto e garantito pienamente dal Governo e dalle autorità. Il Prc ha detto da tempo che la mobilitazione di Genova e i temi che essa pone rappresentano un terreno di confronto imprescindibile per chi lavora a ricollocare le sinistre italiane in una nuova prospettiva. Il Prc sarà presente alla mobilitazione e fa appello a tutte le proprie strutture e ai propri militanti per il massimo di partecipazione in tutte le giornate e in tutti i forum di discussione. In particolare il 19 parteciperemo alla manifestazione dei migranti e all'incontro promosso dalla nostra delegazione nel GUE. Il 20, nel rispetto di tutte le forme di disobbedienza civile non violenta decise dal GSF il Prc sarà impegnato nelle piazze tematiche nell'accerchiamento del vertice.
