Re: [Sugar-devel] Collaboration: Server Name change

2015-05-29 Thread tkkang
Thanks. Press tab after typing the name, and only then close the window. Yes it works... I disagree, it is more likely that you clicked somewhere else in the window before closing. The same thing happens on Sugar-0.105.1; if you close the window immediately after typing the name, it is lost.

[Sugar-devel] Collaboration: Server Name change

2015-05-29 Thread tkkang
I am running 13.2.4 for XO-1 (build 16) with Sugar 0.104.1. When I go My to Settings Network and try to add a Server name I notice I could not save a name of my choice e.g. schoolserver.myserver.com. In the past I did have success adding schoolserver.lan I notice this when I was testing

Thanks for the feedback. Just that I have been testing other people web applications (and saving me time) with docker that I feel perhaps a kid with an XO can do the same and learn something with lighter weight virtualization. Hope some developer can take up Sam's and your recommendation of

Re: [Sugar-devel] Docker in Sugar/XO laptop

2015-05-23 Thread tkkang
I'm puzzled as to why you would want an XO laptop to host docker applications; thus going slower and having less memory. Perhaps some real smart children can start using their XO laptop to learn how to host various web applications from docker. Asking for Docker to be surrounded by Sugar

Was reading this and I am curious if any work has been done on Docker on XO laptops or in a Sugar environment? Read previous threaded exchanges between Michaël Ohayon and Gonzalo Odiard. This is Docker on a RPi http://blog.xebia.com/2014/08/25/docker-on-a-raspberry-pi/ Cheers --- T.K. Kang

[Sugar-devel] SOAS Fedora 22 Final Release: Collaboration in Activities

2015-05-20 Thread tkkang
With SOAS Fedora 22 coming to the stage of final release I would like to know if we can expect the collaboative features of Sugar to be functioning. I tried Memorize, Maze and Write with two SOAS and it did not work. Have reported this issue before. Cheers --- T.K. Kang

I tested the 2 SOAS-22 via a connection to the schoolserver AP. Collaboration works normally between XOs-1 running 13.2.4. In Adhoc network connection I could not see the other person in neighbourhood view. I think collaboration work on SOAS-17 and below as I alway try to see if the SOAS

Okay, and please bear with me; I don't have the data quota to download SOAS images; but is the Server entry box in the Collaboration section of the Network panel of the My Settings set or is it blank? It has the jabber.sugalabs.org and I have blank it out first for my testing. I registered the

Thanks Samuel. So there is effort needed to port Sugar to the versions of Telepathy in use in Fedora and whatever other distributions are used. I'm in favour of that. + 1 hope a SOaS (sos) call will get it back to its core functionality and uniqueness. Thank you all for the feedback.

This keeps coming up. I believe that due to changes in telepathy, collaboration (at least for Jabber) has not worked for the past few Fedora releases. Not sure which version but in the past I did have some fun linking up XO-1 and SOAS for varied shared activities. Reliability was good enough at
