I had done exactly as you suggested to establish the back up drive (#2) as
the start up drive and get the computer up and running. I verified the HD
(#1) containing the Corrupted OS 9.1 using HDT's Disk First Aid which showed

My S900/19 Hitachi 7515/OS 8.1 and now 9.1 system apparently is identical
to yours, using the original IXMicro TT128M2 card and have never had any
trouble selecting any resolution. It has the original 2MB of VRAM, and I've
often wondered what the addition of another 2MB of VRAM would buy

long gone. It was a distress sale when they were going out of business.
