During the first BD wash the water picks up too many contaminants to be
reused for the next wash and must be discarded. Can this water be
cleaned/filtered to be reused?
What contaminates are there? Methoxide? KOH? Well all know there is no such
thing as a BAD batch of DB, so there could be

Vacuum- I have worked very little with vacuum. While in the Navy, I was
learning OJT a little about refrigeration. At that time I was taught inches of
Hg. and 30"Hg is the max but extremely hard or impossible to achieve.

Can vacuum be used alone to dewater oil at room temp?Or even at
slightly elevated temp? 55 deg. C would be a good temp so
when it finished drying it could be sent directly to the processor. I would
alsoneed a condenser to keep the evacuated water out of the vacuum
pump.A friend of mine (in
JTF states in Section 5 (http://journeytoforever.org/biodiesel_make.html#biodnew)
, to carefully decant the BD off the top, making certain not to get any of the
glycerine in the BD. If you do, resettle and and try again. Yes this is crude
but it is a test batch for beginners.

Everyone seems to use more NaOh in the process. At this point I plan on
using KOH even though I must use more.
I can purchase 90% KOH for .725/lb and NaOH beads for 51/lb.
The time savings and ease in mixing KOH is worth the extra cost.
Later in the entire process am I missing something
