How about a bicycle Grand Prix instead?
Baltimore Sun (blog) - Maryland
In the long run, our city would have been much better off had it
invested the money and effort it spent on IndyCar racing downtown on
making our streets more bicycle friendly ("It had better be worth it,"
July 13).
In today's America, a bicycle friendly city is a magnet for young,
upwardly mobile professionals, the kind of people Baltimore desperately
needs to improve its housing stock and increase its property tax revenues.
As long as Baltimore retains its bicycle unfriendly reputation, the very
type of people we need most will look elsewhere to make their careers.

Cyclists hit the streets for Ride for the Rescue
YNN
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Cyclists hit the streets of Syracuse Saturday to support
the Rescue Mission.
The 6th annual Ride for the Rescue raises money to provide free services
to homeless and hungry people in the community.
More than 500 people took part in five different rides throughout the
day, hoping to meet the goal of $200,000.
Organizers say it's a fun event that anyone can take part in.
"People come out for the camaraderie, they arrive with their co-workers,
they form teams and even people that don't ride are out here today because
we have fun for the whole family, food, music, so it's a great way to come
together to help those in need in our community,” said Paul LaDolce, Rescue
Mission Communications Director.
