Last week some one mentioned a 6.2 Diesel site or news group.
I deleted it and now have a friend who has a 6.2 and needs some help.
Any help would be appreciated.

Increasing breathing is great but if you combine more fuel with more Air
then you get more power.

Eric,
I'll let Bryan give you a more definitive answer, but in the meantime, here's
what I know about getting more power out of a diesel engine. If you monitor
exhaust gas temps (EGT's) with a pyrometer, you can turn up the fueling on
the injection pump, and this will produce more power. Doing

And how would that be done? I would want low rpms.

John,
If you can
upgrade the glowplugs to the newer variety that don't break off in your
engine then you got a good deal and they will run
The injection pumps I have never really had a problem with. I always have
them checked and reworked by a Professional pump shop. Most auto mechanics
won't touch them because they don't have the specialized tools it takes(That
keeps me from working on them though I do tear them apart). Early pumps
You got lucky with them breaking off while removing them, and it sounds like
the broken piece stuck in the hole so it came out from the pressure.. but
they can go down through the precombustion cup in the engine. The only space
between piston and head is the thickness of the head gasket. If you
and financial means. It is not hard to get the 6.2 and 6.5esp to the 300
Horsepower mark.

not to be confused with the 6.2L diesels, though. the 6.2 was used byt the
post office and the military. they were O.K. , not great, and they wee
reliable enough. I have a friend who has an 85 suburban that has 200,000
miles, runs great.
My take on it is this; if you get it cheap, and don't spend

stay away from early 70-80's gm diesel. basically a gas engine beefed up.

That would be a 5.7 engine and while it does have its fans the rods are too
short causeing extreme cylinder wall pressure and thus scuffing. Pistons are
not as heavy duty as the 6.2 either. Alot of other parts are not as beefy
either. All in all I agree with Steve..
