...to get back to, ahem, biofuels... and to address safety, let's consider the high flash point and energy content of biodiesel or SVO.
There is no other fuel that offers the same combination of energy density, convenience, and safety. Whether you run just a diesel, whether you use it to reduce the number of lead acid batteries needed in a given EV, or whether you run a fuel cell off of it...it's the safest fuel around. This is further enhanced if you don't transport it in bulk for thousands of miles to get it to its end use, but produce/use instead on a local/regional basis. Ed B. www.biofuels.ca (feeling quite safe indeed with a mere 25 litres of SVO in the trunk, compared to previous vehicles that had propane or natural gas cylinders on board...one of which was an Omni with the natgas cylinder behind the back seat...in the passenger compartment! An approved installation (ex-gas utility vehicle, in fact) but mighty scary looking... and sounding... on refills! My wife and kids could never really accept the engineering explanations and usually ran for cover, using the excuse they needed a washroom or chocolate bar, while I got my $4 fillups at one of the few stations that had the stuff! And these occasions were frequent since the range was not all that great) > > > Biofuel at Journey to Forever: http://journeytoforever.org/biofuel.html Please do NOT send "unsubscribe" messages to the list address.
