Hello All, Having just subscribed to these groups ([biofuel] & [biofuels-biz]) thought it a good idea to introduce myself and with some regret air a few negatives.
On a personal level I am based in Manchester UK and would welcome anyone here in the UK to make contact - I get the feeling that most members are USA based - partly envious of the better grounding and commitment across the pond. I'm ambitious enough to think there's a business opportunity despite the Draconian tax levels here. I'd appreciate your opinions and ask if any of you have had problems or accidents handling methanol and what safety factors have been incorporated. I have in built preference for ethanol as its not fossil derived and shouldn't kill me (depending if its drinkable!!!) Second query is if anyone has had experience of deterioration in their finished product - ie; from what I understand there is a finite shelf life to methyl and ethyl esters depending on contaminant levels etc; though I guess most small scale production will be for use immediately with little storage. Thirdly, and thanks for your patience - I nosed around and noted an interesting article on accelerated transesterification using micro wave energy, this struck an eureka chord so wondered if work in this area had been tried and if so what level of success had been achieved. Hope I've not annoyed anyone though flames wont touch the asbestos underwear - damned itchy stuff. regards, Adrian. ------------------------ Yahoo!
