Catalytica continues development of diesel fuel processor

Catalytica Energy Systems said it has completed a 100-hour demonstration of its fuel processor-driven NOx adsorber catalyst system on a stationary diesel engine, achieving a greater than 90% reduction in NOx. The test was conducted on a 8.3 liter diesel generator set rated at 160 kW.

Catalytica intends to start field demonstrations at end-user sites, to assess the commercial viability of the system as a retrofit NOx control solution from stationary engines.

The Catalytica fuel processor generates a hydrogen-rich gas (CO+H2) from diesel fuel, which enhances the regeneration of NOx adsorbers. The system has been developed for both mobile and stationary engines.
