After we changed the NTP use of swisstime.ethz.ch to ClosedAccess at the end of 2012 we tried contacting the main users of this service (via whois) for a six month period - unfortunately with minimal success. As of July 1st 2013 the time has come. SWITCH will block NTP-access at the border to Swiss NRENs so that commercial users and universities/ technical colleges (outside Swiss NRENs) will no longer be able to access swisstime.ethz.ch as a time server. This is for your information as well as for others who may be affected by this change. Per 1. Juli 2013 ist es nun soweit. SWITCH wird den ntp-Zugriff am Border zum Schweizer NREN blockieren, so dass kommerzielle Nutzer und Universitäten/Hochschulen ausserhalb des Schweizer NREN swisstime.ethz.ch als ntp-Server nicht mehr nutzen können. Dies zu ihrer Information und möglichen Weiterleitung an andere betroffene Kreise.
