-protocol issue 12: time zone info required?

2004-04-20 Thread Rainer Gerhards
Hi WG, I am cleaning up bullet points for the edit. http://www.syslog.cc/ietf/protocol/issue12.html Talks about time zone infos, as it looks this has been sufficiently solved in -protocol-03. So I am going to set this to solved (with no edit in -04). Please let me know if you think otherwise.

-protocol issue 7: enterprise ID

2004-04-20 Thread Rainer Gerhards
WG, I am going to move the enterprise ID to the origin SD-ID (and move it OUT of the required header). I think this is the best concensus that can be seen from previous discussion: http://www.syslog.cc/ietf/protocol/issue7.html Again, please make yourself heard if you have some good arguments

Anton: thanks for the reminder. I agree with you. I will edit some wording in this spirit. We can fine-polish it in the next revision if there is need. Rainer -Original Message- From: Anton Okmianski [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, April 19, 2004 10:19 PM To: Rainer Gerhards

RE: Message size limit

2004-04-20 Thread Anton Okmianski
Rainer: Are you going to specify a message size limit in -protocol? I think we do need some limit. For fragmentation in -protocol I need to know how many bytes to dedicate to the fragment offset and potentially message length. I suggest we limit it to 4GB in size (32 bit size) or 16MB (24 bit
