I hear an interview with the head of the Pennsylvania SPCA regarding pit

I first saw Kim Gallagher run in the fall of 1977 at PIAA district 1 cross
country championships at West Chester University. I was a sophmore and she
was a freshman. My race was later, but I believe our girls team was in the
race against her. I will never forget the feeling of utter amazement at
Here's a segue. In 1974, I ran cross country with Mitch Albom, author of

Michael Jordan didn't make varsity until his JR year of high school. I don't
believe his earnings have suffered.

I like your analogy, and would like to take it a step further. Oregon is the
guy who won the Kenyan trials in 2:10 and Illinois was the 2:12 winner of
the ethiopian trials at altitude (being that they are from the 2 best
conferences) and LSU is the surprise winner of the always tough Japanese
I understand that there are a billion Chinese, and that some of them have to
be spectacular athletes, but I don't believe these dates of birth. I don't
believe a 14 yr old male can run a 1:49 800. I don't believe 14 yr old can
legitmately race a 25k walk. Anyone disagree?

Being that I am the same age as Carl, and ran in the same track meets he did
in high school, I can tell you that in 1978 he was a jr. at Willingboro
high. In 1980 he was freshman at Houston.

Harrisburg is AAA school. The AAA 200 meter record is 20:86 by Clinton Davis

Hey Ed,
I generally enjoy your posts about New Jersey track, however,
I think you are off base here. Does it give you pause that the Casey Martin

I know that much of the seoul olympics was shown live in the middle of the
night. I was fortunate enough to have a child born in early august 1988. She
clearly was a track loving infant. She was kind enough to wake us every
night at about 2:00 a.m. to be fed during the olympics. This was perfect
