Did they use this rule against all of the athletes that competed in ALL of
the meets that Butch Reynolds was in while under the SAME circumstances ?
If not, it would be tough to use it now. It would look like some countries
and athletes were getting preferential treatment.

Just to set the record straight on Reynolds and the 1992 OT:
* he won his first round heat in 44.58, the fastest 1st round time ever (at
that point)
* he won his quarter final heat in 44.68
* he was second in his semifinal heat in 44.14
* he was fifth in the final in 44.65, the best 5th place
There was nothing fishy about those 600m times at the Big 10 meet. I was on
the backstretch for most of the day. They definitely started from the proper
line for a 2-turn stagger. The 600m was one of the strongest fields of the
entire meet. Add a lightning fast track to that and you have

absolutely clear that the track is FAST. But, what happened in the
jumps? I have heard that there is a major problem with the runways. If
anyone was there and could give some insight, it would be appreciated.
