Did they use this rule against all of the athletes that competed in ALL of the meets that Butch Reynolds was in while under the SAME circumstances ? If not, it would be tough to use it now. It would look like some countries and athletes were getting preferential treatment. I read some reports

Just to set the record straight on Reynolds and the 1992 OT: * he won his first round heat in 44.58, the fastest 1st round time ever (at that point) * he won his quarter final heat in 44.68 * he was second in his semifinal heat in 44.14 * he was fifth in the final in 44.65, the best 5th place

There was nothing fishy about those 600m times at the Big 10 meet. I was on the backstretch for most of the day. They definitely started from the proper line for a 2-turn stagger. The 600m was one of the strongest fields of the entire meet. Add a lightning fast track to that and you have
