First I think you just breached the data protection act and are using
data which even I don't have access to, but lets ignore that and the
fact that Nick has actually been pushing to make the list more open. A
list which only you, Mike and 80n have.

The GNOME foundation fixed this a few years ago by saying that only a
certain percentage of the board. I quote from

No single organization or company will be allowed to control more
than 40% of the board seats,
The Foundation board should have no more than one candidate from each
company in my opinion.

They arn't,
Its just we (as in the OpenStreetMap community) want to ensure that
all decisions that get made, are done done so with the best interest
of the community.
