[OSM-Talk-ZA] Speeds in OSM

Hi I have been editing in OSM and have noticed that every Street or Freeway I come across in the Port Elizabeth area has no speed limit in. Is there a default speed that OSM accept if no speed limit has been set for Freeway6s and in City/Town or do al of them needs to be set? Hoping to

Hello Renier, I believe there is a rather complicated proposal on the OSM wiki. It tries to model the European situation were streets inside cities have very low speed limits. Personally I think this proposal is much too difficult to implement and I would rather see global defaults for each
