Here's an alternative. I belong to a yahoo group that operates the same way as Tango L. (You need a yahoo mail address.) You register with the group. When a list member sends a message, everybody in the group gets the message. You don't have to add anybody to your contact list. Here's an example.

I use FB and don’t think it’s a good platform for any kind of extended discussion, aside from whatever privacy concerns one might have. It’s fine for announcement, for sharing Web links, news items, and so on, but it’s not conducive to thoughtful discussion. Notices and posts scroll too quickly

I can only agree to Michael: *no* Facebook! For good reasons Tango-L (and other mailing lists) have been mailing-lists and not websites! I would *not* join a Tango-L-FB group replacing the mailing list. I have extreme privacy concerns about Facebook!!! Thanks for keeping up the list on listserv!
