It looks like the launcher looks in "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\The Bat!"
irrespective of the location you specify when installing
I worked around this by creating a link "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\The
Bat!" to the actual install location

Installing in the default location works for me as does creating a symbolic

Using The Bat
to read mail while
disconnected, I strongly suggest not synchronising. Just disable
synchronisation for all folders.
Sorry, I didn't articulate very well. These folders are set to NOT
synchronize.
