So you're using a distribution dvips, rather than texlive's dvips. Please
verify that you have the musixtex fonts, likely part of the texlive-music
package.

Please do
$ which dvips
and if the output is
/usr/local/bin/dvips
do
$ ls -l/usr/local/bin/dvips
which should point to .../texlive2022/bin/x86_64-linux/dvips
I suspect you're using a corrupt dvips.

Rodolfo: Please run musixtex -i pmx and attach all the intermediate
and log files. I run Linux Mint and don't see a problem. AFAIK, only
Christian has duplicated the problem, also on Mint I believe. We've got
to get to the bottom of this.
