I'm wondering if any other Spectracom 8195 users out there can shed some light
on this. According to the manual, the specs are related to operating in
'position hold'. However, there seems to be no way to set position hold mode,
or tell if it's in effect. (Well, there seems to be a RS485
Nigel, thanks for the manual. It helped immensely. This unit does run TSIP of
course, but with a smaller set of commands/reports than the Thunderbolt. As for
the internals, I only got as far as seeing that the GPS module is in fact a UT+
with a Synergy sticker on it and the OCXO has an Efratom
I'm dusting off one of my GPSDO here, and find that I do not have the manual or
the software for this Efratom/Datum Starloc II. With the
Datum/Efratom/Symmetricom/Microsemi transitions (I may have missed one or
two...) I don't know if any info is even still available from Microsemi.

Nat Semi App Note 72 page 18, par. 6.4 shows the configuration for bandpass
active filter. This matches the last LM3900 stage, so you would seem to be
correct. The shift in filter frequency for 200bps is because the higher
modulation rate results in a greater frequency shift. It's like 50hz
According to a document I just found
(http://tf.boulder.nist.gov/general/pdf/1743.pdf) it would seem that the
naval transmitters are at least .05 10e-9. I don't imagine they have gotten
worse since that was published (1967!).
So maybe not quite as good as WWVB (which was then spec'ed at .02
How about these Xtendwave patents for a start:

But then again its the module after all.
How big is the loopstick and did you confirm the wiring?

Neither one is going to break the bank, but I found the Westclox Model 72006
'Atomic LCD Alarm Clock' $10.97 at Walmart. Similar module inside.
