There is a bug opened for that (and some more things on this module).

In the meantime, what I did is to disable smtp authentication in the code.
If your ISP accept anonymous smtp connection, there will be no more probs.

Long answer : so you'll have to debug it :-D
Quick and dirty answer : you can update data directly in the postgres table,
changing the status.
