Actually, that's basically (note qualification) the way I grade papers, and I suspect most of us. One factor is how good the individual instructor is on identifying the key terms that they use! Now, I have the option to follow up a specific red flag in ways that might not be easily

I'm not so sure that this is very different from what a lot of us are already doing. In my research methods class I have a graduate TA who writes detailed comments on all of the student's practice papers. She is a former student is very well trained in what I consider to be essential in a good
