Paul, eulogy: a commendatory oration or writing especially in honor of one
deceased. Webster doesn't say a thing about religion, funeral service, or
even that death is required. So, I'll just say that if the word eulogy
really disturbs you as it doesn't me, substitute it with retirement,
Webster is wrong. Paul is right. Eulogies are a part of the Protestant
tradition, not the Catholic. And a strict Catholic person could easily be as
put out by an interview question about eulogies as a Jewish person might be
with a question about, say, Sunday school. You've simply stumbled over

shouldn't be trusted as well? Oh, my, my. Gee whiz. This should be my
