Not it's not, there should be 1 tracker-extract process running. Are you
sure you don't have conflicting installations here?
Even I do have more than one tracker-extract process. I removed the
previous tracker version before

Ok, I decided giving it another try (still on Oneiric 64 bit).
I did this on the desktop and got a folder named tracker
git clone git://git.gnome.org/tracker
seemed ok, no error message
sudo apt-get build-dep tracker
downloaded lots of packages, also seemed ok, no error messages

No! After I took the old version away with software center, it seems to
work!
at least tracker-needle starts and files are being indexed!
