It is a very common misunderstanding that because of the pirated Microsoft product people knows computer well. It is not. The revolution of free software did not started because of Microsoft. It started to provide free and open source software to the user. GNU stands for GNU is not UNIX. That is the free software revolution started to create a UNIX alternative to reach the mass people. Also BSD is derived as a free license of UNIX. Hence their could be free software and the evolution of software would roll on even if there was no Windows. However, competition is always good and people know that UNIX is much better than any other kind of OS standard. So Apple moved to a UNIX based OS leaving horrible Mac OS 9. And we get a half-closed Mac OS X. Also Macs are not too pricey but they do not deliver low profile hardware in the market. Well, we are on Ubuntu list. So I stop here! ;) Nasim -- M. you already said it hasin bhai... wonderful after using mac os/x for couple of months i said it too. it's the secret mantra of steve jobs. people just use windows but wouldnt say wonderful, they would just use it. but i think windows are still the people's os what ever the crack or without crack or a brand new one. does not matter. very few would probably afford to use a macintosh. its not gonna be people's os sooner its still the windows but what it would always miss is the mantra what steve jobs does have. Let me share a fact with you. Yesterday's experience. I thought let's lie to MS and see what they do with my pirated product key of XP. I installed XP in a computer with a Googled key and called them (Skype Tool Free) for activation. Now they says they key is not valid and I said what can I do. Then they forward me to another executive. The experiance was awosome. WIth some permission sharing, that agent get into my computer and checkd a few things in front of my eyes. Foldes like VISTA_XP_CRACK, DISABLE_WPA etc was on that desktop. I wanted to see what he really do. He did not do anything and just asked me where did you get this key. I said from Dell. He said why did not you called them. I said this computer is baught 4 years back and it doesn't have any warrenty and they asked me to contact with you. সংযুক্তি আমার মাইক্রোসফটের উপর রাগ এই কারনে না যে ওরা ওদের অপারেটিং সিস্টেম বা প্রোডাক্ট বিক্রি করছে বা জোড় করে বাধ্য করছে ব্যবহার করতে। আমার রাগ হচ্ছে ওরা জোড় করছে বাজে জিনিস ব্যবহার করতে। আর মাইক্রোসফট না থাকলে যে এখনও ম্যাক ব্যবহার করতাম এই কথা মানতে পারি না। মাইক্রোসফট না থাকলে অন্য কেউ তৈরি করতো। লিনাস ট্রেভিস হয়তো এতোদিন অপেক্ষা করতেন না আরও আগেই লিনাক্স হাতে পেতাম। আরও দ্রুত লিনাক্স পরিচিত হতো। এরপরও মাইক্রোসফটের ধন্যবাদ প্রাপ্য যে মানুষের ঘরে ঘরে ডেস্কটপের এরকম প্রচলোন (প্রচোলন? বানান কি?) ঘটিয়েছে। -- ubuntu-bd mailing list ubuntu-bd@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bd
