I just tried Allan's suggestion and changed the user-agent string in
Windows firefox to the Linux firefox user-agent string which replicated

Yes, I had the latest updates. It may have been a freak thing. I did
the standard upgrade from 6.10 to Feisty using the command line and
then that brought up the update thing with the upgrade button that I
clicked on. It was using the us repositories.

I had previously installed Herd 5 and suspend and resume both worked.
On wake, I got a crash report, but it was minor...the actual function
worked. Wifi even worked after waking.

To save anybody else the work of going through logs in foreign languages
(Portuguese?), it seems this is caused by netbase being upgraded before
samba and the samba postrm calls update-inetd which is now in its own
package.
An alternative would be to work around this in update-manager.
