I am having the same issue with Ubuntu 7.04. It used to work fine with
Edgy, and started when I did a clean install of Feisty. Both Firefox and
Epiphany have the exact same problems. Opening digg.com or
linuxactionshow.com causes Firefox to slow down. Scrolling and opening
menus becomes slow, and

I've fixed the problem by manually reinstalling all postgresql related packages.
I've seen that no .deb package contains that directory so it must be created by
the installation scripts.
I have no idea which one created it but I'd say that either the
postgresql-common or the postgresql-server

I would like to know if this problem still persisted with Edgy (6.10)
and Feisty (7.04) as since Dapper is an LTS, and if it still persists in
Dapper, it maybe possible to backport a fix.

I forgot to mention that you have to rename the program to normalize-audio
from normalize after the installation.
I'm sure you can change something in some Makefile, but have no time to check.
In my opinion it's the k3b that should be modified, not the normalize!
